A New Page.

So here we go. A new page…literally, and figuratively, too, I guess. Photography is something that has always been beautiful to me. When I was in second grade, I won a disposable camera in school. I took it home and showed it off to my mom, who said that she was going to use to take pictures of my little brother.  She took the camera from me and put it on top of the fireplace.  Well, the next morning (Saturday morning) I took the camera, unwrapped it from it’s foil wrapper and went outside with my younger brothers and I had them pose while I took photos of them.  I vividly remember telling one of my brothers to pretend to be getting mail out of the mailbox while I snapped a photo.  Needless to say, my mom was upset that I had used up all but 4 or 5 exposures for her to shoot her precious baby Kevin.

I remember seeing the photos once they had been developed and thinking “Wow!”. I had created something. They were not the best, but I had created something that would be part of my family’s history forever.

This is photography.  All of my work might not be the best.  However, it will become part of someone’s history.  It will trigger a memory. A family member now gone. An event that brought happiness. A memory almost forgotten if not for that one photo.
